This season invites us to reflect on our spiritual readiness, embracing the wisdom of our ancestors and the promise of new beginnings. Join Brad as he explores the hope and renewal that Jesus’ birth signifies.

0:00 Advent is a season of hope and anticipation. 0:04 A time when we look forward 0:06 to the coming of Christ with hope and joy. 0:08 From an Aboriginal perspective, 0:10 Advent is a season that resonates deeply 0:13 with our connections to Country, 0:15 our communities, and our spirits. 0:17 Hope is something that is woven into the fabric of our histories, 0:21 our Dreaming, 0:22 and is shown in the ongoing strength and resilience across our communities. 0:26 As we prepare for the coming of Christ, 0:29 we reflect on the hope that has sustained us 0:31 throughout the generations. 0:33 Our people have always looked to the land 0:35 for signs and guidance, 0:37 much like the wise men who followed the star to Bethlehem. 0:41 The land speaks to us of renewal and promise, 0:44 reminding us that even after the harshest drought, 0:47 the rains will come, 0:48 and life will flourish again. 0:51 Advent, a time of anticipation, 0:53 mirrors the seasons of our people 0:56 the waiting, the renewal, 0:57 and the rebirth that comes with the cycles of nature. 1:01 Hope can be found on Country. 1:03 The earth speaks to us through the seasons, 1:05 through the rivers, the trees, and the animals. 1:09 Each new day is a reminder of the strength 1:11 and resilience of our culture, 1:14 passed down through generations. 1:16 When we look to the horizon, 1:18 we know that the seasons will shift, 1:20 the rains will come, 1:21 and the earth will again provide. 1:24 Hope is found in the strength of our communities, 1:27 where we support and uplift each other. 1:30 Just as Mary and Joseph found refuge and welcome in a humble stable, 1:34 we find hope in the bonds of kinship 1:36 and the shared journey of culture and faith. 1:40 Our stories of survival, perseverance and resilience, 1:44 are a testament to the enduring hope that carries us forward. 1:48 During Advent, 1:49 we light the candles 1:50 and remember that hope is not just a distant dream 1:53 but a living reality. 1:55 It is the light that shines in the darkness, 1:57 guiding us towards a future filled with promise. 2:01 As we await the birth of Christ, 2:03 we hold onto the hope that His coming 2:05 brings healing and reconciliation to all people. 2:09 Let us embrace this Advent season 2:11 with hearts full of hope, 2:13 inspired by the wisdom of our ancestors 2:15 and the promise of new beginnings. 2:18 May our hope be a source of strength and unity, 2:21 lighting the way for a brighter tomorrow.
